Welcome to the Island Waters Flyfishers. We are based in Nanaimo, British Columbia which is located on beautiful Vancouver Island. Our club is affiliated with the British Columbia Federation of Fly Fishers BCFFF. The BCFFF are affiliated with the international Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF).

The purpose of our club is:

To practice, further and promote the art of fly fishing.

To practice and promote fish conservation and enhancement.

To encourage fellowship and sportsmanship amongst anglers.

Our meetings are held 7:15 PM on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Rotary Field House. Visitors and Guests welcome. Note that a new meeting place (tba) is being arranged for our meeting September 2016 and beyond. The map below soon will be updated to reflect the changes coming.

3rd Street Field House,
Access off of Jingle Pot Road by Buttertubs Marsh Parking Lot

If you are going East on the Parkway, turn left at Jingle Pot Road, then right off Jingle Pot across from Buttertubs Bird Sanctuary There will be playing fields on your left.

If you are going West on the Parkway, turn right at Jingle Pot and right again across from Buttertubs.

You cannot access the field house off Third Street. You will go by it. The entrance is off Jingle Pot Road. Across the road you will see the parking lot for the Buttertubs Sanctuary.

We do not meet during July, August or December. Guests are requested to attend three meeting before deciding to join. In addition to the meetings we also have fly tying sessions. Typically we tie flies the first or second Saturday of the month at Oliver Woods Community Centre. Demonstrations are presented and various methods and flies are practiced.

We also have fly casting sessions and other activities as determined by the membership. Each summer we have our annual salmon barbeque for members and guests. The main social affair is the annual Christmas Banquet and Awards Night which includes an auction.
